This film was announced in May 2018. After the success of Raid, Rajkumar confirmed that he was working on two scripts. Among them one is a detective crime thriller. Arjun Kapoor was the only choice for the main role.

Film Shooting :

        

This film shooting started on May 2018. The shooting are done mostly in Bihar in Gol Ghar, Kali Ghat, NIT Ghat, Kargil Chowk (near Gandhi Maidan) and Bahadurpur Housing Colony. Some scenes of the film were shot in Nepal (Raxaul Nepal-India border of Birganj District of Nepal, Pokhara and Kathmandu). Final Schedule of shooting complted in November 2018.

Critics Review :

Renuka Vyavahare  from Times of India appreciate the film by giving 3.5 star out of 5 star, by saying "IMW is an earnest ode to the unsung heroes of our country - a story that deserves to be heard."

Rahul Gangwani from Filmfare gave 3 stars from five. He appreciated cinematography of the film for aerial shots, but feels that film was using more of national fervour and lacked craft. He terms the film as 'part-predictable and part-thrilling' fare.

She will be seen as Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, a social worker and a farmer, who convinced the other 299 women from Madhapur to help build the runway. Parineeti Chopra and Rana Daggubati was earlier casted was replaced by Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar.

This film shooting was started in late June 2019, and it was shooting done mainly in Hyderabad, Kutch, Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata.

T- Series Owner Bhushan Kumar announce the film on social media that He making the film with Ajay devgan base on True events of 1971 Indo-pak war where three hundred local women helped in reconstruction of destroyed airbase in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Casting :

Ajay Devgn played role of Vijay Karnik, and he was also the only choice for the role. The other cast included Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk and Rana Daggubati. The film is Virk's second Hindi film. South actress Pranitha Subhash later joined the film, making her Bollywood debut. Rana Daggubati was later replaced by Sharad Kelkar. 

Parineeti Chopra was also signed to play a spy in the film, but due to the film's shooting dates clashing with her other film Saina, she leaved the film in November 2019. Nora Fatehi was casted in as a replacement for Pareeniti in January 2020.

Film Shooting :

Sanjay Dutt started shooting for the film on 25 June 2019 in Hyderabad. Then, he and the other cast members including Ajay Devgn travelled to Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata to next schedule  of the film.

Release :

Ajay Devgn announced that the film will release on OTT platform  Disney+ Hotstar exclusively in late 2020 as a result of theatre closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. However, the release was postponed to avoid competition with the 2020 Indian Premier League.
