Shamshera Movie is an upcoming 2020 Bollywood action-adventure film, This film leading star cast are Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor. It is produced by Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films. This movie is writer / directer Karan Malhotra.

Shamshera movie is Set in the 1800s, pre-Independence India. the film is about a dacoit tribe who took charge in fight for their rights and independence against the British. Ranbir Kapoor is playing double role, as title character Shamshera and his father. Vaani Kapoor is playing a dancer.

Film shooting started on 1 December 2018 and completed in January 2020. This movie will release on July 31, 2020 in IMAX theaters, coinciding with the Bakrid holiday weekend. But it may delay the release because of Corona lockdown effect.

How movie casting is done ?

After finalizing Ranbir Kapoor's casting, film announcement along with other details of the film on 6 May 2018,Sanjay Dutt was confirmed to be the main antagonist character of the film, and his casting was announced on 10 May.

After few days, Vaani Kapoor's casting was announced, set to play a "desirable and sought-after travelling performer from the Indian heartland." On 4 December 2018, several days after film shooting had started, Ronit Roy announced his confirm casting on his Twitter page.

This film movie shooting started on 1 December 2018, with shooting expected to complete by mid-2019. A Big fort for the film was built at Film City, Goregaon, requiring two months of preparation and the effort of nearly 300 workers. Vaani Kapoor shows her limits as an artiste as she takes professional training in Kathak dance for the movie.

On 6 May 2018, Yash Raj Films released a 45-second teaser video, announcing the film and its casting of Ranbir Kapoor as the film's lead character. Next day, director Karan Mahotra released a first-look poster on Twitter. On 3 July, the producers announced the official release date of the film as 31 July 2020. In January 2019, it was confirmed that Ranbir Kapoor will be playing a double role―Shamshera and his father―for the first time in his career. Release date may post-pone due to corona virus lockdown in India.
