Story of the film :

Inderjit "Inder" Bansal (Akshaye Khanna) is a very rich young man. Although his parents (Anupam Kher/Moushumi Chatterjee) want him to settle down, he goes to another city to do his MBA and stays with friends. 

During MBA college, he meets Pallavi Sinha (Jyothika) and they fall in love. She also share  his feelings, but trouble comes in the form of her autocratic three brothers (Paresh Rawal, Tej Sapru and Mohnish Behl), who are over-protective of their little sister and take an irrational dislike to Inder. 

They show hostility towards Inder and conflicts starts within the households and the couple decides to elope, but afterward realize they miss their families. They decide to return home, hand over their feelings, but ultimately their families accept their love, and they are reunited.

This film reviews are mostly mix to positive from critics, Ashish Khanna from Planet Bollywood gave 8 star from 10 star and stated that "The direction and cinematography of the film are great and typical of Priyadarshan. Prior to the start of shooting, Priyanka Chopra was offered the part of Priya Singhania. She was intended to make her acting debut with this movie, and she even shot for two days before a disagreement prevented her from continuing. She declined, and Amisha Patel was given the part. The part of Karan Malhotra was also offered to Abhishek Bachchan, but he declined for the same reason, allowing Akshaye Khanna to take it.

According to Derek Elley of Variety, "Humraaz" gets good character mileage from its celebrity trio and fine performances from two of them (Bobby Deol, Amisha Patel). It's a well-played Bollywood mystery-thriller.

The movie received three out of five stars from Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama, who said, "On the whole, HUMRAAZ boasts a fresh cast, a gripping script, the magnificent look and several thrilling moments to send you on a joyride for the next three hours. The movie contains everything needed to entice a dedicated moviegoer looking for family-friendly entertainment.

Rediff.com's Vivek Fernandes stated, "The directors do take their time establishing the scheme of things, occasionally spoon-feeding the audience. Additionally, if the movie had been a little shorter, the experience would have been more gripping. But we'll overlook such a small flaw. Without a doubt, Humraaz deserves a dekho. "Except that having watched a lot of Hitchcockian plots, one feels let down at the way our filmmakers end a good plot," a Sify critic stated in a review. Though the conclusion is filmic and drawn out, the anticipation is palpable, according to Chitra Mahesh of The Hindu.
