In September 2017, Reliance Entertainment and Vibri Media hosted an event to announce the film with the team that had won the 1983 World Cup. The Film shooting started on 5 June 2019 in England. Earlier Film release Date Announce on 10 April 2020, the release has been post-poned due to corona virus pandemic.

The film was rescheduled again for release on 4 June 2021, Then the release date of the film has been post-poned mainly due to the again rise in second wave COVID-19 cases. 

It is now finally plan for theatrically release on 24 December 2021 during Christmas Holidays, along with its dubbed versions in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada in 3D.

Kapil Dev And Ranveer Singh

Reliance Entertainment & Vibri Media hosted an event in September 2017 to announce the film along with the entire former team that won the Cricket World Cup in 1983. The cast and their roles were announced in February 2019. Amiya Dev, the daughter of Kapil Dev, joined as an assistant to the director, Kabir Khan. 

Mali Marshall was cast to play his father, West Indies fast bowler Malcolm Marshall. Film Composer Pritam joined to create an iconic anthem for the film.Deepika Padukone joined the cast as Kapil Dev's wife, Romi Bhatia, while also co-producing the film. Tamil actor Jiiva was signed to play Krishnamachari Srikkanth, marking his Hindi debut.

Film 83 Training : 

In the first week of April 2019 at a camp at Dharamshala Cricket Stadium, the cast trained at cricket with former cricketers Balwinder Sandhu and Yashpal Sharma. Ranveer Singh was learning the game from Kapil Dev before the start of shooting in June.

Film Shooting :

Director Kabir Khan announced that the major shooting of the film would start in England in May 2019. The cast of '83 flew to London on 28 May.

Film Shooting started on 5 June at locations in Glasgow, Dulwich college in London, Edinburgh cricket club, Nevill Ground at Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent and The Oval cricket ground. Khan stated, "Now that it's going on the floors, starting with the Glasgow schedule, everyone's excited to recreate a journey that made history, all thanks to our cricketing heroes of the '83 team." In mid-June, Deepika Padukone joined film team in Glasgow for her part of shooting.The three-month schedule of the film in London was finished on 1 September. 

Deepika Padukone finished her portion of shooting in mid-September.The filming was completed on 7 October 2019.

Sonakshi Sinha has been signed to play a pivotal role in the movie. She will be seen as Sunderben Jetha Madharparya, a social worker and a farmer, who convinced the other 299 women from Madhapur to help build the runway. Parineeti Chopra and Rana Daggubati was earlier casted was replaced by Nora Fatehi and Sharad Kelkar.

T- Series Owner Bhushan Kumar announce the film on social media that He making the film with Ajay devgan base on True events of 1971 Indo-pak war where three hundred local women helped in reconstruction of destroyed airbase in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Casting :

Ajay Devgn played role of Vijay Karnik, and he was also the only choice for the role. The other cast included Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk and Rana Daggubati. The film is Virk's second Hindi film. South actress Pranitha Subhash later joined the film, making her Bollywood debut. Rana Daggubati was later replaced by Sharad Kelkar. 

Parineeti Chopra was also signed to play a spy in the film, but due to the film's shooting dates clashing with her other film Saina, she leaved the film in November 2019. Nora Fatehi was casted in as a replacement for Pareeniti in January 2020.

Film Shooting :

Sanjay Dutt started shooting for the film on 25 June 2019 in Hyderabad. Then, he and the other cast members including Ajay Devgn travelled to Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata to next schedule  of the film.

Release :

Ajay Devgn announced that the film will release on OTT platform  Disney+ Hotstar exclusively in late 2020 as a result of theatre closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. However, the release was postponed to avoid competition with the 2020 Indian Premier League.

Sooryavanshi film was announced in December 2018 through film Simmba by the post-credit scenes. On 5 March 2019, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first look posters of the film on his Twitter account. Unlike previous entries in the franchise, Sooryavanshi is not based on any existing work, but an original story. Film shooting Started in Mumbai on 6 May.
