Loafer film is a 1996 Bollywood Action-romantic-comedy movie directer is David Dhawan and producer is Surinder Kapoor and Boney Kapoor under banner of S.K. Film Enterprises. 

This film leading stars cast are Anil Kapoor and Juhi Chawla while Pramod Muthu, Mukesh Rishi, Dinesh Anand, Viju Khote, Gulshan Grover,Farida Jalal are in supporting role.

The film was a remake of the superhit Telugu film titled Assembly Rowdy,1991 starring Divya Bharti and Mohan Babu, which itself was a remake of the 1990 Tamil film Velai Kidaichuduchu.

The film had several initially names like- " Aaj Ka MLA" , " " Mawaali MLA" , " Aaj Ka Mawaali MLA", "Aaj Ka Loafer" . Boney Kapoor finally named as " Loafer".

Ths film was made on a small budget and sold at a throw away price to distributors. This was done to cover for losses the distributors suffered for Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja.

The central plot is inspired from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and the plot of circus was taken from Charlie Chaplin starer movie The Circus.

Hera Pheri Film Sequel :

Hera Pheri film is released on 31st March, 2000 with Surprise Hit and Become Cult Classic film of Bollywood, This will motivate Producers to make series of Sequel of the film.

Hera Pheri 3 film is planned, but the production was postponed after film Director/Writer Neeraj Vora died on 14 December 2017 after a prolonged illness. After the response from Producer Feroz Nadiadwala, it will be released.

On 23 May 2018, it was confirmed that Hera Pheri 3 will now be directed by Indra Kumar and star the same team of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the lead. It was reported that the film will be shot in a start-to-finish schedule and Indra Kumar confirmed to The Indian Express interview that the film will be ready for release in the second half of 2019. The film will continue the story of the previous two. Later, Indra Kumar leaved the project for unknown reasons and finally the Priyadarshan, who directed the first movie Hera Pheri, will comeback as the director of the third Part of the Series.

The film reviews are highly positive and became a super hit at the Box office. Its dialogues became very popular among masses. Many of its dialogues are still used as memes in social media.

• Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama gave 4 star out of 5 star and writes that "Akshay Kumar is fantastic,Suniel Shetty is quite good.Rajpal Yadav excels. Sharat Saxena and Johny Lever are able. The remaining actors enact their parts satisfactorily. The film belongs to Paresh Rawal from Scene A to Z.The actor is at his best yet again. Overall, PHIR HERA PHERI has ample masala to keep its target audience -- the masses mainly -- more than happy. At the box-office, the film has opened to a thunderous response and in view of the fact that there's no major opposition for the next two weeks, the film will prove a money spinner for its distributors. Story of the film : 

The first love story is about love getting a second chance. Devdarshan Suri - Dev (Sanjay Suri) is a widower, his wife Payal (Dipannita Sharma) dies soon after their honeymoon. He moves to Mumbai from Pune with his sister Rachna (Bhavna Pani). Here he meets Gauri (Sonali Kulkarni), who lives with her psychosomatically ill brother Gaurav (Rakesh Bapat).

gradually they love each other, the shadow of Gaurav's illness is always between them. during the same time period Rachna falls in love with Gaurav, this is the the second love story.

The third story is one of how love can be overcome by ego, pride and insecurity. Krish Kumar (Madhavan) and Raksha (Namrata Shirodkar) are happily married. Both are aspiring singers and want to become stars. Though Krish is more ambitious than Raksha, it is Raksha who succeeds first and becomes a temper. Their marriage stumble.

The fourth love story is that of Hrithik Mittal (Jimmy Shergill) and Jojo (Hrishitaa Bhatt). Even though Hrithik is a multi-millionaire and both the families want them married, Jojo refuses to marry him until he gets a job and becomes independent from his father.

This film reviews are mostly mix to positive from critics, Rakesh Budhu from planet Bollywood gave 7 star from 10 star and while Times of India users gave 3 star from 5 star.

Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave 1.5 star from 5 star and stated that "the film is an ordinary fare ? not great, not bad either ? which has some chances at select theatres of metros mainly. Being pitted opposite a big release (HATHYAR) will hamper its prospects at several centres for sure."
