Critics reviews :

• Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama gave 1.5 star from 5 star and stated that "Sonu Nigam gives a fair account of himself, Juhi Babbar overall performance is first-rate. Om Puri is excellent. Raj Babbar is, like always, efficient. Sharad Kapoor enacts his part with utmost conviction. Vivek Shauq stands out. Overall, The film is an ordinary fare. At the box-office, the film will face rough weather due to a strong opposition in the form of World Cup. Had the film released at a more appropriate period and without oppositions, the prospects would've been better."

• Taran adarsh in Bollywood Hungama gave only 1 and half star and criticisng the film stating that ” Directorially, Suneel Darshan is not in form this time, mainly because the script does not offer him scope to rise beyond a point. . Dialogues are well worded and punch-packed. The stunts are well crafted. Production values are just right.Akshay Kumar is plain mediocre. The role hardly offers him scope to try out anything different. Kareena Kapoor is her usual self. Pooja Batra leaves a mark in a small role. On the whole, TALAASH relies too heavily on an oft-repeated theme, which will tell on its business eventually. The film may find some flavour in the interiors.”
