Critics reviews :
Ronak Kotecha from Times of India gave 3.5 star from 5 star and stated that "Helicopter Eela is a fun ride that manages to land safely despite some turbulence. Watch this simple and endearing tale of motherly love with your mom in tow."
Saibal Chatterjee from NDTV gave only 1.5 star out of 5 and stated that "ajol And Riddhi Sen's Film Is A Massive Letdown, The film is is an ungainly crash landing at the end of a wobbly ride. The problem with film is that it allows the drama to trump its comic potential. A little more wit and humour and a little less earnestness might have given the film the wings it wants. After a disappointingly predictable and patchy two hours, the climax, too, does little to help the audience forget the trudge up until this point."
Raja Sen from Hindustan times also gave 2 star from 5 star and writes that "The film doesn’t work as hard, with college students using volumes of the World Book for research, and a young man with a thickly Bengali accent playing Eela’s half-Maharashtrian, half-Punjabi son. In a throwback to Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’s infamously unplugged electric guitars, Kajol even conquers a stadium with a song without needing a microphone. This Mommy may not know best, but she sure knows loudest."
Anna MM Vetticad from Firstpost gave only 2/5 and noted that "Kajol over-acts, Riddhi Sen is top-notch in a funny but superficial Mom com,a sort of English Vinglish without depth."

As they were discussing, Ehsaan came up with a riff which Sriram felt fits the theme of the movie, which then turned out to be the title song “Johnny Gaddaar”. Then they decided to go for another song, which was to be picturised in a club setting.
Sriram wanted it to have an early ’70s feel, along the lines of the famous R.D. Burman song, “Duniya Main”. Hence they jammed and came up with the second song, the rich and vibrant “Dhoka”. Sriram had seen rapper Hard Kaur on TV and was impressed with her. So he asked her and the trio to jam together, and they came up with the final song of the album, “Move Your Body”. Neil Nitin Mukesh Interview :
Review of the film :
This film reviews are mostly positive from critics, Become Cult-classic film overtime.
Critics reviews :
Times of India critics gave 3.5 star from 5 star and stated that "Johnny Gaddaar lives up to his debut venture and doesn't let you sit back. Watch out for Neil Mukesh who pitches the perfect note as the smooth snake in the sleeve. This grandson of Mukesh definitely has a long innings ahead. Wish Shankar Ehsaan Loy's music score had matched up to the jagged notes of the film. Nevertheless, this one's complete paisa vasool stuff."
Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama also gave 3.5 star out of 5 star and writes that "JOHNNY GADDAAR is a taut thriller that has the germs to catch up with the audience. At the box-office, its business at multiplexes will be the best. Lack of a major opposition coupled with an additional holiday on Tuesday (October 2 - Gandhi Jayanti) would prove to be a bonus!"
Rajeev Masand on film reviewing gave 3 star out of 5 star and stated that "Johnny Gaddaar is a delicious thriller, it’s a thriller very unlike his own previous film Ek Hasina Thi, and very unlike most thrillers you’ve seen recently. Watch it because it’s that rare film that actually expects you to use your brain."
Khalid Mohamed from Hindustan times also gave 3 star from 5 star and noted that "Neil Nitin Mukesh who’s intense, sturdy and cool. Fingers crossed for the future -- an actor of potential is born."
