Daud film is a 1997 Bollywood Action-Adventures-crime comedy Movie, Directer is Ram Gopal Varma while Producer are Ram Gopal Varma and Jhamu Sughand under banner of Varma Corporation and Jhamu Sughand Productions.

The film leading Star cast are Sanjay Dutt and Urmila Matondkar, while music composer is A. R. Rahman.

The film was based on Ram Gopal Varma’s 1991 cult classic, Kshana Kshanam, which starred Venkatesh and Sridevi. The film was originally named "Nayak" but changed just before release.

Daud film is released on 22 August 1997 with mostly mix critics reviews and also flop at the Box office. Ram Gopal Varma stated about Daud "It was a very big flop. People didn't like it. The story should have had a kind of linear-progression, which I feel I completely missed out on.

The film Background score and music composer is A. R. Rahman, who also scored Rangeela. 

The all songs lyricist is Mehboob, except for the title song “Daud” which was writes by Sukhwinder Singh.

The film music album became successfulafter release and is considered the highlight of the film. The songs were also noticed for its picturisation. One of the songs, “Zehreela Pyar” came heavily under the censor scanner for its rather bold picturization.

The music album was re-released in Tamil as a non-film album titled Ottam and was dubbed in Telugu as 50–50.

Review of the film :

Raja Sen from rediff.com stated that "The film has solid, credible performances, especially by the main protagonists. Four-year-old Ehsaas is striking in the film: quiet, cuddly and with a whispered sinister innocence worthy of Damien himself. Sushmita Sen is quite a treat, very believable, and it's good to see a model finally working hard enough to deserve her acting spurs. Chakravarty is his usual restrained self, but just seems the slightest bit unlike his given 'writer' credentials. The rest are filler.The camera is the main hero of the film."

Brooke Kamishlian from letterboxd gave 2.7 star out of 5 star and stated that "The thing I didn't like about the film was the length. I found the pacing odd. This might be traditional Bolly style, I don't know, but it crept through the first hour.

Overall I enjoyed the hell out of it! The acting was awesome! The film looks beautiful! The makeup is pretty darn cool!"

Chutki (Antara Mali) is a Die-hard fan of Bollywood film star Madhuri Dixit and dream for the chance to follow in her idol's footsteps. As she makes her wishes known to her parents, she learns that her parents have other plans for her that include an arranged marriage.

Chutki's best friend Raja (Rajpal Yadav) shares her dreams and offers to marry her so that they can work on Chutki's acting career. As soon as the two small-town innocents arrive in Mumbai, they learn serious lessons about the hardships of the profession and discover the numerous wannabes in direct competition with Chutki.
