This film was announced in May 2018. After the success of Raid, Rajkumar confirmed that he was working on two scripts. Among them one is a detective crime thriller. Arjun Kapoor was the only choice for the main role.

This film shooting started on May 2018. The shooting are done mostly in Bihar in Gol Ghar, Kali Ghat, NIT Ghat, Kargil Chowk (near Gandhi Maidan) and Bahadurpur Housing Colony. Some scenes of the film were shot in Nepal (Raxaul Nepal-India border of Birganj District of Nepal, Pokhara and Kathmandu). Final Schedule of shooting complted in November 2018.

Critics Review :

Renuka Vyavahare  from Times of India appreciate the film by giving 3.5 star out of 5 star, by saying "IMW is an earnest ode to the unsung heroes of our country - a story that deserves to be heard."

Rahul Gangwani from Filmfare gave 3 stars from five. He appreciated cinematography of the film for aerial shots, but feels that film was using more of national fervour and lacked craft. He terms the film as 'part-predictable and part-thrilling' fare.

T- Series Owner Bhushan Kumar announce the film on social media that He making the film with Ajay devgan base on True events of 1971 Indo-pak war where three hundred local women helped in reconstruction of destroyed airbase in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Casting :

Ajay Devgn played role of Vijay Karnik, and he was also the only choice for the role. The other cast included Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk and Rana Daggubati. The film is Virk's second Hindi film. South actress Pranitha Subhash later joined the film, making her Bollywood debut. Rana Daggubati was later replaced by Sharad Kelkar. 

Parineeti Chopra was also signed to play a spy in the film, but due to the film's shooting dates clashing with her other film Saina, she leaved the film in November 2019. Nora Fatehi was casted in as a replacement for Pareeniti in January 2020.

Film Shooting :

Sanjay Dutt started shooting for the film on 25 June 2019 in Hyderabad. Then, he and the other cast members including Ajay Devgn travelled to Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata to next schedule  of the film.

Release :

Ajay Devgn announced that the film will release on OTT platform  Disney+ Hotstar exclusively in late 2020 as a result of theatre closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. However, the release was postponed to avoid competition with the 2020 Indian Premier League.

Sooryavanshi film was announced in December 2018 through film Simmba by the post-credit scenes. On 5 March 2019, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first look posters of the film on his Twitter account. Unlike previous entries in the franchise, Sooryavanshi is not based on any existing work, but an original story. Film shooting Started in Mumbai on 6 May. Captain Kabir Kaul(Zaheer Iqbal), a young retired army officer, decides to teach in his late father's school, the Wular Public School as the school will be closed if there is no teacher to teach. However, they disobey Kabir, leading him to think that he cannot teach, but after reading Firdaus's diary, he gains confidence and decides to try.

Kabir experiences a breakup with his girlfriend, who is having an affair and believes that Kabir is now unfit to marry her as he has left the army. He is heartbroken but takes solace in the schoolchildren and Firdaus's diary, writing comments in it. He learns about Imran, one of the schoolchildren, whose father, Yakub, wants him to help in the household rather than attending school. Using help from the diary, Kabir succeeds in bringing Imran back to school. He decides to burn Firdaus's diary after learning she is getting married, but retrieves it in a fit of epiphany.

On her wedding day, Firdaus finds out that her fiance was cheating on her and the other woman is carrying his child. She calls off the marriage and returns to Wular Public School. The children are overjoyed to have her back though Kabir is gone. She finds her diary in the same drawer she had left it in a year before and reads Kabir's comments. He had written that he was in love with the writer and had learned valuable lessons from her diary. Curious, Firdaus asks the principal about Kabir the same way he had asked about her. The principal tells her that he has gone to take a teaching course.


One day, Firdaus confronts Yakub, who wants to take Imran back. Imran sees Kabir and runs to him, saying he doesn't want to leave the school. Yakub threatens Kabir with a gun and Imran, realizing Yakub might kill Kabir, takes the gun to shoot his father. Kabir stops him, asking him not to do so. Yakub realizes his mistake and lets go of the matter. At the end, it is shown that Firdaus sent the children back home so that she can talk and spend time with Kabir with whom she has fallen in love and got married recently.
