This film shooting started on May 2018. The shooting are done mostly in Bihar in Gol Ghar, Kali Ghat, NIT Ghat, Kargil Chowk (near Gandhi Maidan) and Bahadurpur Housing Colony. Some scenes of the film were shot in Nepal (Raxaul Nepal-India border of Birganj District of Nepal, Pokhara and Kathmandu). Final Schedule of shooting complted in November 2018.

Critics Review :

Renuka Vyavahare  from Times of India appreciate the film by giving 3.5 star out of 5 star, by saying "IMW is an earnest ode to the unsung heroes of our country - a story that deserves to be heard."

Rahul Gangwani from Filmfare gave 3 stars from five. He appreciated cinematography of the film for aerial shots, but feels that film was using more of national fervour and lacked craft. He terms the film as 'part-predictable and part-thrilling' fare.

T- Series Owner Bhushan Kumar announce the film on social media that He making the film with Ajay devgan base on True events of 1971 Indo-pak war where three hundred local women helped in reconstruction of destroyed airbase in Bhuj, Gujarat.

Casting :

Ajay Devgn played role of Vijay Karnik, and he was also the only choice for the role. The other cast included Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Ammy Virk and Rana Daggubati. The film is Virk's second Hindi film. South actress Pranitha Subhash later joined the film, making her Bollywood debut. Rana Daggubati was later replaced by Sharad Kelkar. 

Parineeti Chopra was also signed to play a spy in the film, but due to the film's shooting dates clashing with her other film Saina, she leaved the film in November 2019. Nora Fatehi was casted in as a replacement for Pareeniti in January 2020.

Film Shooting :

Sanjay Dutt started shooting for the film on 25 June 2019 in Hyderabad. Then, he and the other cast members including Ajay Devgn travelled to Bhopal, Indore, Lucknow, Mumbai and Kolkata to next schedule  of the film.

Release :

Ajay Devgn announced that the film will release on OTT platform  Disney+ Hotstar exclusively in late 2020 as a result of theatre closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic in India. However, the release was postponed to avoid competition with the 2020 Indian Premier League.

On 5 March 2019, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the first look posters of the film on his Twitter account. On 5 March 2019, the day when two posters of the film were out, Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty announced that they have planned to release the film on 22 May 2020, coinciding with the festival Eid-ul-Fitr. Later, it was announced on 12 June 2019 that the release has been preponed to March 2020.On 12 March 2020 the release of the film was postponed indefinitely due to the 2019–20 coronavirus pandemic.

On 28 December 2019, Reliance Entertainment released a video to celebrate one year of Simmba which included a short clip from the film's climax.The official trailer was released by Reliance Entertainment on 2 March 2020.

Sooryavanshi film new release date is finally announce on 5th November 2021 during Diwali Holidays.

Songs of The Film Sooryavanshi :

The songs composer are Tanishk Bagchi, Lijo George – DJ Chetas and JAM8, while lyricist/writter are Rashmi Virag, Shabbir Ahmed and Tanishk Bagchi.

Sukhwinder Singh will sing a song named "Jal Rahi Hai". The song "Tip Tip Barsa Pani" from the film Mohra, will be recreated.
