The film leading stars cast are Manisha Koirala, Suman Ranganathan,Aryan Vaid and Shweta Menon. Yukta Mookhey had casted on to do the film, but was replaced due to an injury.

The film story revolving around Muskaan Bano Role played by Manisha Koirala from her life in Indian brothels after being sold there by her Arab husband to her attempts at revenge later in life. 

Market film was released on 12th September, 2003 with mostly mix critical reviews and able to get a decent opening and was a surprise success of the year. It was declared "average" at the box office.

Market Film Story :

When newly married bride, Neelu(Anuradha), was brought in the brothel by her husband, Appa Rao(Pankaj Berry), on false pretences, Muskaan Bano(Manisha Koirala), a courtesan for several years, also remembered her unfortunate story. 

Things change when the police raid the brothel, and apprehend the patrons and the courtesans. Inspector Sawant(Sayaji Shinde ) takes a liking to Muskaan, and decides to promote her to another “market”, albeit more sophisticated, to which she agrees. 

Thereafter there is no looking back for Muskaan, who is now known as Malika, and the sky is the limit, including avenging herself against her Arab husband, who sold her at the flesh market, with deadly results, as well as a chance at meeting the person who really runs India.

• Taran Adarsh from Bollywood Hungama gave 2.5 star from 5 star and stated that "Manisha Koirala is the pick of the lot. She is in form after a long time.Aryan Vaid doesn't get a dream launch, but he does leave an impression in the latter half of the film. Sayaji Shinde is fantastic. Govind Namdeo is first-rate. Anupam Shyam is competent. Prathima Kazmi is superb as the brothel owner. Pankaj Berry and Vallabh Vyas lend adequate support.On the whole, MARKET has two factors going in its favour its title-value and the issue it depicts [prostitution]. At the box-office, the film has the merits to pick up gradually on the strength of these two factors."
